6 PROPULSION ENGINE PACKAGES FOR WORLD MARINE OFFSHORE
Throughout 2013-14, Nordhavn Power Solutions is to deliver six propulsion engine packages for the shipping company World Marine Offshore via West Marine in Esbjerg.
The first 4 deliveries to the “Wind server 25” ships included 4 units Scania DI13 engines as were connected transmission solutions Twin Disc in-single out on propulsion line with variable pitch.
The solution with two engines on same transmission in connection with propulsion line with variable pitch has result in large savings on fuel consumption and at the same time optimal operational reliability as the ships can operate without problems on one engine per transmission.
When the ships are in maintenance at wind farms, they do not need full power performance giving the opportunity to run on only one engine per transmission.
This compared to the Scania engine unique fuel consumption at both max and medium load gives an optimal fuel economy on the ships.
