NEW POWERS TO AN OLD SHIP: REPLACEMENT ON FYLLA

The schooner Fylla lacked new power in the engine room. They chose Nordhavn Power Solutions as supplier and installer of a brand new, complete propulsion package (Scania DI13 engine (294 kW) with SCR system, gear and propeller system) on the old wooden ship Fylla.

Skipper of the camp school ship Fylla, Mark “Bacon” Ambech, ended up pointing to Nordhavn Power Solutions as, according to him, Nordhavn Power Solutions could deliver the best overall solution.

“We had a complete propulsion package installed by Nordhavn Power Solutions. It was a special situation to find and install a modern solution to fit our old wooden ship.

We chose Nordhavn Power Solutions as they could provide the best overall solution and their solution model helps to reduce our emissions of NOx. Here we had the propeller, gear, engine and much more installed on the schooner Fylla.

We have been happy with the whole process, and we continue to be happy with the propulsion package that Nordhavn Power Solutions has delivered,” says skipper Mark “Bacon” Ambech.

The schooner Fylla had its maiden voyage in 1922, which means that the ship can celebrate its 100th anniversary this summer. The new forces in the engine room will now for the second summer in a row give happy school classes a good experience on board the ship.
